Today Tangta Khasmahal is a large village in the Gorubathan Block of the Darjiling district in West Bengal, India. It's home to 1,031 families.

Today Tangta is located in the 45th constituency of the Kalimpong district. The region is known as the last village of the district. It's located at the farthest end of the Indian border at an altitude of 1,500 meters.

The region's proximity to Bhutan has created a mix of Bhutanese and Indian cultures. Many surrounding villages depend on the main market, Todey Bazaar.
